I was born on the 4th of July, too, and have always loved "homegrown" fireworks displays - lots of good memories of everyone on our block getting together and trying to one-up each other with cooler fountains, rockets and bursts. Although I do understand the fire and safety reasons for Colorado's stricter rules, it makes me sad that I can't share that togetherness with my current neighbors.

I was born on the 4th of July so I admit to a bias for fireworks. But what really sparks my ire is making parents who buy fireworks criminals in the eyes of their kids. Firemen spend way too much time in elementary schools teaching kids, not only how to deal with a fire, but how horrible and illegal fireworks are.
Driving by my local fire station with their anti fireworks banner makes my rockets go off!!
