From The Denver Post:

On today’s front page: A U.S. Department of Education report shows in Colorado “black students have gained ground on their white peers on eighth-grade math tests”; the month-old marijuana bust of mountain biker Missy Giove; an interesting story about the politics of the ancient hardrock mining law and the battle that’s brewing between Interior Secretary Ken Salazar and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (although the first half of the article, as usual, was all about the politics and not what the politics was about, which you don’t get until well after the jump); and more American Idol love. Worthy of only a tease to make room for that Idol love: Day 2 of Sonia Sotomayor in the Senate and a $1.5 trillion health care proposal.

More on the mayor’s budget plan.

Colorado gets money from EPA for water projects.

An Aurora street race kills an innocent driver.

The Colorado House is jealous of the size of the Senate staffs and wants things to change.

We can think of about 1,963 better things to spend money, time, thought and resources on than an all-pet airline.

From Westword:

More American Idol love.

Watching a mock Japanese earthquake at CSU.

Up and down the Front Range:

Colorado Springs Gazette: If you’re swimming in El Paso County, don’t swallow the water.

Boulder Daily Camera: Residents oppose renewal of power plant’s air permit.

Boulder Daily Camera: Tax revenue shortfall leaves gap for critical services. Workers: shed management, pizza.

Fort Collins Coloradoan: Help wanted . . . nine years from now.

Longmont Times-Call: The prairie dog battle rages on.
