Rockies get some midseason love

More journal entries from Steve Foster »
Jon Heyman at SI.com has Brad Hawpe fifth in his midseason NL MVP voting and new Rockies manager Jim Tracy also fifth for NL Manager of the Year. Nothing to write home about maybe, but it’s been a few years since anyone has mentioned the Rockies this time of year as anything other than a department store for deadline deal shopping.
One surprise: Dan O’Dowd is No. 2 on his list for NL executive of the year. Writes Heyman:
Some were calling for his heard early. But this is one impressive hitting team. Plus, think about the fact that Huston Street alone would be worth more on the trade market than Matt Holliday. And that Tracy-for-Clint Hurdle move has worked wonders to this point.
It remains to be seen whether O’Dowd has earned this recognition. As noted earlier today, to Rockies’ bullpen could use an infusion.
