In his postgame talk with the media after the Rockies’ 1-0 win over the Washington Nationals on Monday, manager Jim Tracy announced the team had shipped out left-handed reliever Randy Flores and are calling up Franklin Morales.

Morales, who started two games with the Rockies this season before going on the disabled list, will pitch out of the bullpen. The hard-throwing lefty has been in line for a recall for a few days now either as a starting pitcher — until Jorge De La Rosa took firm hold of his spot in the rotation with a gem last Friday — or as a reliever.

Earlier Monday, I wrote about the need for the Rockies to use some of their good young arms in the bullpen. Morales was also on my list of prospects to see sooner rather than later, tied with Jason Hirsh, who like Morales isn’t technically a prospect any longer.
