The good news is that ESPN.com finally noticed the Colorado Rockies exist. The bad news is they did so only long enough to reassure their coastal following that that the big-market Los Angeles Dodgers have nothing to worry about from the Rockies.

Both ESPN.com and SI.com led their web sites Tuesday morning with the 14-inning thriller between the Rockies and the San Francisco Giants. See the screenshots here.

But for ESPN.com, while the game was the highlight of the night, the featured story was “analysis” from Steve Phillips that he likes what he sees in the Dodgers. This is curious considering the Dodgers, who have led the National League West for all but six days this season, have seen their 9 1/2 game overall cushion in the division erode to three games, their lead threatened by a team that was once in last place and 15 1/2 games out.
