I was wrong about Xcel, and I stand corrected

In a journal post Monday, I implied that Xcel Energy’s announcement of another step forward in its plan to boost its renewable energy capacity was perhaps a well-timed PR move on the heels of the uproar over Xcel’s proposed solar-panel fee.

Today, I received a note from Xcel spokesman Tom Henley, who rightfully called me out for not doing more checking about the timeline of the 2007 Colorado Resource Plan.

The Aug. 10 submission to the Public Utilities Commission was, in fact, planned long ago and was part of an established timeline. It has nothing to do with the timing of the solar-panel fee flap.

I stand corrected, and I apologize to you, readers, and to Xcel for not doing my homework well enough.
