Rockies activate Rincon for bullpen
The Colorado Rockies, needing a fresh arm in the bullpen after back-to-back extra-inning games, have activated Juan Rincon off the disabled list. Rincon has been pitching at Triple-A Colorado Springs on a rehab assignment, compiling a 2.08 ERA in six relief appearances.
The Rockies has one fewer reliever than usual in Tuesday’s game against the Los Angeles Dodgers after optioning Adam Eaton to Triple-A.
No word yet on the corresponding roster move, but Tracy Ringolsby at InsideTheRockies.com speculates outfielder Matt Murton may be returned to Colorado Springs one day after being recalled to provide outfield depth.
UPDATE, 8/26: The Rockies designated Matt Murton for assignment off the major-league roster to make room for Rincon.
