Someone killed Britain’s biggest carp

Britain’s favorite carp is dead, and it’s fishy.
Benson, known among anglers as the lord of the lakes, was found poisoned last week near the village of Tansor, England. The 25-year-old common carp, which weighed 64 pounds and was estimated to be worth nearly $34,000, was found floating on Kingfisher Lake.
It could have been accidental fishicide by someone trying to feed Benson. Uncooked nuts, which are toxic to fish, were found on the bank nearby.
If they can avoid nuts like that, common carp have been known to live into their 30s.
Benson was voted “Britain’s Favourite Carp” by the readers of Angler’s Mail in 2005. He had survived being caught more than 60 times by anglers from around the world who would travel to the lake just to land the “King of Common Carps.”
Rest in peace, old chum — uh, chap.
