‘Mockingbird’ is 2009′s One Book, One Denver

Harper Lee’s classic tale To Kill a Mockingbird is this year’s selection in the One Book, One Denver program, Mayor John Hickenlooper announced.
The book was chosen in an online vote and joins past selections such as The Thin Man by Dashiell Hammett (2008), Articles of War by Nick Arvin (2007) and The Milagro Beanfield War by John Nichols (2006).
Denver has planned a series of events in September and October related to Mockingbird, including a film series of courtroom-related movies, a workshop for new writers, a justice-themed poetry slam, and a cooking class inspired by food from the novel.
