There's no question Barmes is better defensively than Young, but EY has been solid at second since he came up and even made a couple plays going to his right I didn't think he could make. The problem with Barmes isn't just that he's not hitting. It's that so many of his at-bats have been complete blanks. He's always been vulnerable to the breaking ball low and outside, but a couple times in the past week all he has seen is that pitch and he still chased it. If he had better at-bats, working pitchers and moving runners over, you could side with this defense over EY's. But for now, even the missed double play you mention is balanced by the much better offense. Until EY is outright costing games with his defense, I much prefer to see him at second.

Generally agree with your analysis, but concerned with EY's defense. I think Barmes turns the DP on the feed from Tulo last night. EY's pivot looked slow, and he didn't get much on the throw.
