Information Collection
Rocky Mountain Independent collects two types of information: 1) Personally identifiable information, which includes personal information you voluntarily contribute when you become a Member, order a product, fill out a survey, participate in a contest or other promotion (collectively, a “Promotion”), or give your e-mail address and 2) Non-personally identifiable information, which includes tracking information collected as you travel around our Website. In addition, as described below, keep in mind that through certain uses of our Website and services, you may also contribute personal information which is available for anyone to view and use.

Rocky Mountain Independent collects personal information online through our Website and through Memberships and sales of products and services. Such personal information includes name, postal and e-mail address, phone number, and other information necessary for participation or purchase. Rocky Mountain Independent is located in the United States, and the Website is hosted in the United States. If you are accessing the Website from the European Union or any other region with laws or regulations governing personal data collection, use and disclosure that differ from United States laws, please note that you are transferring your personal data to the United States which does not have the same data protection laws as the EU and other regions. If you provide your personal data, you consent to the transfer of your personal data to the United States as indicated above.

Tracking Information and Cookies
RMI’s Web servers automatically collect certain non-personally identifiable information through technology which includes cookies, web beacons and log data. This data is aggregated and analyzed to be used for purposes such as for internal review, tailoring information for individual visitors, and traffic audits.

Regarding “cookies,” a cookie is a text file we place in your computer’s browser to store your preferences and to tell when your computer has contacted the Website. The cookie itself does not contain any personally identifiable information. Rocky Mountain Independent automatically receives and records information on its server logs from your browser, including your IP (Internet Protocol) address, cookie information, and the pages use request. Your IP address is blindly tracked by the Website to monitor site traffic and identify sessions. For example, we may use cookies to personalize your experience at our Website.

Disclosure of Your Information
Except as stated in this Privacy Policy or at the time of collection, or if you execute a release giving us permission, your personally identifiable information will not be transferred to a third party outside Rocky Mountain Independent provided however that RMI does not control the dissemination of any personally identifiable information that you may post on the Website.

We may provide aggregate information and statistics about our users, customers, traffic patterns, and related Website information to reputable third parties; however, these statistics and information should not include personally identifiable information. For example, we disclose demographic and preference information to advertisers to permit them to target ads on our Website, in aggregate, to the users for whom they are most relevant. This is so that users receive ads that are more likely to interest them, and advertisers send their ads to recipients who are more likely to be interested.
If you participate in a Promotion, Rocky Mountain Independent may share your personal information with third parties who participate in such Promotion.

Finally, we may disclose personal information if we are required to do so by law or we have a good faith belief that such action is necessary to (1) comply with the law or with legal process; (2) protect and defend our rights and property; (3) protect against misuse or unauthorized use of our Website; or (4) protect the personal safety or property of our users or the public. Therefore, if you give false information or try to appear as someone else, information about you may be disclosed as part of any investigation into your acts. In addition, we may transfer personal information to a third party in the event of corporate restructuring (e.g., a sale, merger or other transfer of assets).
