The Colorado Avalanche announced Thursday they have signed first-round draft pick Matt Duchene to a three-year, entry-level contract. Duchene, the third pick overall, is the highest pick in the franchise's Colorado history.

The Colorado Avalanche announced its 2009-10 schedule Wednesday. The Avalanche will open its season at home against the San Jose Sharks on Oct. 1. The team will retire Joe Sakic's No. 19 in a pregame ceremony.
